Last week, I shot an elopement in Palm Beach, a large business event with over 700 attendees in Tampa and a wedding in Orlando. My cameras, my back and my wrist needed a well-deserved day off. Today, after getting some business done, it was time to take inventory and to organize the mess I made of the living room with all my equipment–which my wife had so gracefully ignored since Saturday night. After I realized that I lost some batteries and possibly a Radio Popper Receiver (bummer), I found something wonderful I had been given during my wedding on Saturday. I had forgotten all about it. I found a card that Erin, the Maid of Honor and sister of the bride, delivered to me early on the wedding day; it was a thank you note from the bride and groom addressed to me. As I read it, I was quite surprised since I was not expecting such a gesture from the bride and the groom on their special day. It made me very emotional to think that in our business we sometimes can forget that these are the real moments that matter. It matters when we can truly connect with our couples, be a part of their day and become more than just a vendor providing a service. It’s more than just asking for recommendations and reviews. This card will not go on some online advertisement or website accolades page but this one will stay in my office, close to my desk. When I look over at it, I will be reminded of why I do what I do and why I love doing it more than anything else on this God green Earth. I do not know how to say thank you to Claire Kelly Howe and Edwin Howe. You guys are so amazing, lovely and caring. I am truly the lucky one for being accepted into the family, for being allowed to be a part of your special day, and for just being a witness in such an amazing love story. I am honored to have been the one to capture both of you on your most important day and I am glad that my work was something that made an impact on your day.
