Olivia and Darin were my couple/models for a project I had been working on for a long time. The project was to create the very first commercial for Gian Carlo Photography (GCP), these type of commercials are know as artist show reels. The goal is to show who you are as an artist, to share your vision, and your mission for your craft to your audience using a dynamic format like video. The project felt something almost out of reach for a long time due to the many elements needed to bring it all. things like, Finding the right videographer, the right couple and not to mention creating a good idea and seeing it through.

A couple of months back, thanks to God, everything came together in a matter of a couple of weeks. I convinced a talented videographer, Mary Angelini from key Moments Productions to head the project forth. She immediately started coming out with great ideas and concepts. After that, thanks to my good friend who happens to be one of my favorite wedding photographers, Shipra Panosian introduced me to Olivia and Darin. They were Shipra’s clients but she was kind enough to share them with me for this project. Olivia, Darin and I first met at a Starbucks (the worse Starbucks ever! haha). But, we had a great time and connected well immediately. We laugh and got to know each other fro a couple of hours. I presented the full idea and they were delighted to help in any way they could and also agreed to be a part of it.
Once completed the new GCP commercial will be the first thing people will see when they enter my site. I am looking forward to share it with everyone very soon.

The following images were some of my favorites from the video/photo shoot day. Which by the way was a super cold day, possibly the only cold day we had all winter here in Orlando. We all spent several hours working as a team trying to get as much footage and images as possible. SO! I just like to say, THANK YOU Olivia, for putting up with the kind of cold weather that had all of your extremities almost completely frozen. THANK YOU Darin for wearing some awesome Chucks Taylors, they really added something playful to the shoot. That also encourage me to wear my pink ones as well. Finally, THANK YOU Mary for going over and above every expectation I could ever have had and for putting up with frozen some extremities as well.

I hope you enjoy the images…

Love

—GC

Mariacristina and Luis’ wedding was a true representation of who they are as a couple and of the close relationships and bonds they share with their families and friends. As I first learned about their wedding as I already excited and I also knew that it would be a very special, one of a kind wedding for me.

They choose to keep their engagement and wedding as a secret for the majority of the time given the limited invitations given. At that point I was already feeling super lucky to be one of the few to witness the union of these two. It was planned to be simple, intimate and representative of who they are, so only family and very close “best-est” of friends would be in attendance.

Their wedding was nothing short of unique and intimate. It was a celebration of love, family and friends.
All the decorations, flowers and details were all done in collaboration with their very talented friend Mary-Allen and Mariacristina and Luis. Everything from the bouquets, boutonnieres, flowers, decorations, lighting and every single detail was created by them. The long benches were made from scratch with the help from family. Even their wedding officiant was a one of their closest of friends.

The air was filled with laughter and love, the day and everyone felt and looked relaxed and enjoying themselves throughout the entire day. It was truly a beautiful event and almost magical day. Mariacristina looked stunning and Luis looked like very handsome and almost glowing with joy.

They ended the day at the Orlando Brewing company to celebrate the rest of the night with friends and beers.

They are great people and such a cute couple. It was an honor getting to document their wedding. It was hard selecting the final images for this blog so I hope you enjoy them. Leave them some love and good wishes below.

We all decided that I we would meet at their home from where we would head out and drive together in search of cool and fitting locations to shoot at. I felt completely in love with their home. Its got so much style, and its super reflective of their personality. So it was obvious to start our engagement session at the most perfect location possible, their home.

All I can say about Val and Lee is that they are that perfect kind of couple. For starts they are crazy in love and just perfect for one another. They are both creatives and artist and incredibly talented at it too. They both love adventure and are always in search of their next adventures. Plus they are really really really good looking. haha. To top all of that off they are just really great people and easy to love. I know that their wedding will be full everything mentioned above and so much more. (yes, including more really really really good looking people)…

Besides all of that Val and Lee have helped me in the past as models for workshops and other things as well. I am grateful for that. It was pleasure to witness their love and a real honor to have capture this images for them.

PS. The last few frames are from their secret spot. That from time to time they go to bring some pizza and watch the sunset… see what I mean by, they are that kind of couple.

(insert winky face here)

For a long time I had the idea to create a series of interviews that would feature wedding vendors. The wanted to get to know them similarly in the same way I try to get to know my couples. To get to know them for more that just vendors but to learn a little more in depth of who they possible can be as people who just happen to work in the wedding industry, and to hopefully in the process make some new friends.

The plan/process was simple, I would meet with them and do a photo session with them, let them have some fun in front of the camera. Then I would send them a series of questions in interview format. The questions would range from anything business related, personal to completely random (fun) questions. This is just the way I like my conversations with people.

So, I hope you enjoy this very first installment of my interview series. I hope it becomes a common thing on my blog. That is if there are others out there who are interested. hint hint!

For those who do not know here I like to introduce the beautiful and talented Mary Angelini. Mary is a film maker and cinematographer who happens to tell wedding stories.
Mary has been featured on Style Me Pretty and Every Last Detail‘s wedding blogs.
Her website is Key Moments Films
Also follow her on Facebook

Fun Fact; I hire Mary to create a video commercial for my new website. The commercial will be featured on the home page of my site. With the goal in mind to introduce me to anyone new to my site and to let them in a little into my style and approach to my work, my vision and a little of my personality as soon as they enter my site. I am excited to sharing that with you soon.

Well, with out further delay here it goes…

Tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a wife, a mother to two adorable dogs and a Wedding Cinematographer.

What is your least favorite word?

I hate it when people mean to say ‘ask’ but really say ‘axe’.

Something you’re grateful for?

I am so grateful to be alive. I know that may seam cliche, but especially around birthdays, it reminds me of the friends I have lost along the way. How they didn’t get to achieve the milestones that most of us get to accomplish. I remind myself this especially when I get down about turning another year older.

What advice would you give to cinematographers who aspire to make the jump from hobbyists to full-time, professional cinematography?

Shadow or assist a pro. So may people make the mistake of just jumping right in and they do it alone; they have to make mistakes that could have easily been avoided if they just had a mentor.

What are you still looking forward to achieving in your cinematography career? Aside from consistently pushing myself, I would love to be the leader in the industry, sharing what has worked for me to help boost other’s businesses.

Coffee or Chocolate?

Chocolate- no question.

What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?

I’d love to run a bed and breakfast in the Bahamas or a remote adventure destination resort.

Something you’re still learning?

I am focusing on mastering the art of time management, specifically between my personal and professional life. I’d really like to set up my life so that I can have children, without compromising my career.

What turns you off?

Rotting teeth and people who flash their money.

What’s your favorite camera and lens?

The Canon 7D and the 50mm 1.4 is hands down my favorite.
